Twenty weeks today!!

Well folks, I am officially twenty weeks as of today!! Guess this means I'm pretty close to halfway there :) I'm going to attempt to actually post some pictures today...keep your fingers crossed!! (and please don't laugh at the placements...I am learning how to do this as I go!)

Our last dr appt/sonogram was the week after Christmas. We were quite shocked to find out that it's a boy!! Everyone kept telling me, "I just KNOW it's a girl!" and I always thought we'd have two girls for some reason. Just goes to show you Who is in charge--God has a sense of humor!! Guess I will have to learn all about sports and cars now... A few days later, on New Year's Eve I got to feel the baby move for the first time. I'd had some "flutterings" (had them for a week or so and just thought they might've been muscle spasms or something--didn't want to get my hopes up that I'd feel him that early) in that general area, but that evening I got some actual kicks several times. Brought a few tears to my eyes to realize this is really REAL!! He's a tiny little human living in my body!

Our sono the week of Thanksgiving showed Baby BG (meaning Boy/Girl as Jason affectionately named it from the beginning) with gangly legs and arms. We were slightly concerned at first because it looked like it had a great big nose (no worries--just a hand behind its head!), but how exciting that it actually looked like a little person!

The dr appt/sono before that was at 8 weeks. (I have realized since then that most people are not as fortunate to get this many sonos so early on!) They wanted to check for the heartbeat again and we actually got to listen to it this time! Made me teary-eyed, of course ;)
Not sure if most doctors typically do it (and I'm sure most of mine had to do with the wonderful receptionist Pam and my favorite nurse, Cindie, looking out for me!), but we were permitted to have a sonogram at six weeks. I still didn't quite believe that I was REALLY pregnant after all those years of no's and negative pregnancy tests...but then when the sonogram popped up on the screen with the tiny dot, I couldn't believe it!! The only thing I'd ever seen on all my sonograms was the cysts all over my ovaries, and occasionally scar tissue, etc. (Note to self, they can indeed tell if you have emptied your bladder recently!)
